Day 3

Another great day at Wall Doxey State Park!!  The summary....

Morning workout was some more pattern training.  After pattern work, we played The Sumo Game (yes, it is pretty close to what it sounds like, except we push with kicking shields.)  We also had a flying side kick contest and played Giants, Wizards, and Elves.  It's like rock-paper-scissors but with running and tagging.  We sparred in the lodge for an hour and a half in the lodge after lunch.  This afternoon we went on a photo scavenger hunt, where each of the colored teams have to go around to different parts of the park and pose for the camera while performing certain requirements.  It produced some GREAT pictures.  Too many to share now, but we will make sure that you see the best ones later this week.  We wrapped up the evening with a board breaking tournament!

We are proud to say that our campers have been hard-working and have been enjoying themselves tremendously!  The counselors are having a blast as well!

Day Two - June 14

We braved the heat and humidity and had one great day of Taekwondo and Team Games!  This morning's workout consisted of pattern training and some bo staff skills for some of our experienced black belts.  Our morning games were the "Zombie" game, which is a game of reflexes and self-control, and Blob Tag, which is a tag game where the one who is "it" tags and absorbs the ones he tags until a massive group of kids are working together to tag everyone else.  After lunch, we sharpened up our board breaking skills and then took some well-deserved free time to play "knockout" (the basketball game... nothing to do with sparring) and some football and frisbee throwing.  An afternoon kickball game between the red/yellow teams and the green/blue teams ended in a tie score.  Tiebreaking round to be played tomorrow.  Some of our campers spent some time on the playground this afternoon as well.  Some great pics soon to come.  After dinner, we enjoyed the greatest camp game ever.... Capture the Flag!!  It was so much fun, many of played until we just couldn't go any more.  An early bedtime was had by all.....

Day One - Monday, June 13

The campers had a grueling morning workout lead by Mr. Steven Miller. We followed it with a great game of Steal the Bacon, in which the Yellow Team won. We went to the lodge to spar after lunch and managed to avoid the storm while inside.... Tonight was the dodgeball tournament, in which the Red Team went UNDEFEATED!!!  Game night in the cafeteria was a lot of fun as well. We played Win, Lose or Draw, Bingo, the High-Low Game, and Deal or No Deal.  Our 4 teams are tracking points throughout the week for team champion. Awards on Friday! After the first full day, Red Team is winning, with the other three teams close behind. We are all pretty tired but can't wait for tomorrow!  Pictures soon to come....

Thursday's Gone - Only One More Day!

We had another great, busy, humid day today!  Pattern workout in the morning followed by a new tag game called Blob Tag (one person's it, when they tag someone, they have to hold hands and be it together.  Then tag more and add kids into the blob until no one is left!  It worked for a while.....)  This was followed by a new dodgeball game called Elimination Dodgeball.  This afternoon was 2 1/2 hours of our classic camp game, Capture the Flag.  The game ended in a tie after much sweat and fun!  This evening was eventful as well, with four of our Black Belts testing for rank in front of a packed house of campers.

We are in a heated team competition as well, with final events happening tomorrow for Team Champion!  Currently, the Red Team has 135 pts, Yellow has 145, Green has 160, and Blue has 175.

Everyone is excited about tomorrow!  The campers found out today about the giant water slide and slip-n-slide that is coming for the day!
